Center for Nutrition, Sleep & Metabolism

Sleep Center

Our Sleep Center caters to patients of diverse nationalities and age groups, spanning pediatric to geriatric services. We provide holistic care to patients who have primary snoring disorder, insomnia, parasomnia, and related sleep disorders. Most commonly diagnosed and treated here is obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a life-threatening disorder characterized by brief, repetitive interruptions in breathing during slumber. OSA symptoms include daytime sleepiness, loud and irregular snoring, morning headache, and obesity, and when left untreated the condition may lead to an increased risk of hypertension, stroke, heart attack, and accidents.

At the Sleep Center, our goal is to help you achieve a full night of restful sleep. We make this happen with the right care, the latest in diagnostics and technology, and our experienced staff. We provide a homey ambience right in the hospital complex, designed as such to promote an environment conducive to sleep.

Services Offered:
We take pride in our comprehensive range of sleep tests done using the latest technology by our skilled, reliable professional staff. These include polysomnography, a full night sleep study where patients are monitored and assisted by competent sleep technician, and split night sleep study for diagnosis and titration, sleep studies using watch PAT device for overnight hospital stay or home monitoring, and multiple sleep latency test for patients with narcolepsy.

Based on your sleeping disorder, there are a number of services offered by the CMC Sleep Center, such as:
  • Polysomnography (Full PSG)
  • CPAP titration and mask fitting
  • Watch-PAT 100
  • Multiple sleep latency test (MSLT)
  • Conservative treatment

Our advanced polysomnography system is made possible by the latest technology, the Sandman Elite SD32 Polysomnography System, which revolutionizes diagnosis of whether or not a person suffers from sleep apnea or another form of sleep disorder. In this non-invasive procedure, wires or probes are painlessly attached on the patient’s body, displaying waves in the monitor to observe the patient’s brainwaves (EEG), muscle tension (EMG), respiration, electrical conduction of the heart (including heart rate and rhythm or ECG), oxygen level in the blood, and sound of snoring.

Once diagnosed, the most common treatment is the use of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), where a preset amount of pressure is mechanically delivered via a nasal or oro-nasal mask to maintain an open airway during sleep. Other medical and conservative treatments may include mandibular appliance device, snoring vest or mattress for positional snorers or those with mild positional obstructive sleep apnea, and surgical intervention such as minimally invasive surgery of soft palate radiofrequency.
