Clinical Neurophysiology Lab

Our Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratory provides leading-edge diagnostic procedures to help neurologists identify neurological disorders and develop treatment plans at an early, effective stage. It uses measurement of electrical activity from the central and peripheral nervous system to help diagnose and manage a wide range of neurological conditions across age groups.

Nerve Conduction Studies
NCV is performed to test the peripheral nervous system. It is often used in patients with complaints of paresthesia (tingling, burning or pain sensations) and/or weakness of the arms and legs. This study does not have side effects and is generally well tolerated.
Electromyography

EMG is used in the assessment of nerve or muscle disorders. It is usually done when people have symptoms of weakness, numbness, impaired balance, and even speech and swallowing difficulty.

EMG-NCV are neurophysiologic examinations that record the electrical activity of the peripheral nervous system and muscles. They provide information on the integrity of the peripheral nervous system, neuromuscular junction, and muscles. The EMG study aids in determining if a problem involves the nerves or the muscles. Relevant disorders include:

  • Cervical and lumbosacral radiculopathies
  • Plexopathies and distal neuropathies
  • Muscle disorder
Electroencephalography

EEG is a brain wave test that records the electrical activity of the brain. This valuable, painless diagnostic aid assesses brain disorder by recording electrical activity from the scalp. These disorders and issues include:

  • Seizures disorders
  • Encephalopathies
  • Head trauma or injuries
  • Causes of unconsciousness
  • Stupor and Coma
  • Organic causes of psychiatric and behavioral adjustment problems
  • Evaluation of brain functions in metabolic disorders.
  • Cerebrovascular accidents
